心配 (Shinpai) is my Bachelor of Arts Graduation Fashion Collection.
The collection is inspired by japanese traditional pattern making. The versatility of traditional japanese clothing aspired me to make all the clothes in my collection adjustable in size. All of the clothes in this collection are adjustable by straps to fit onto people of sizes S-L.
Shinpai is a Unisex Collection. I wanted to push the limit of genders associated to clothing. I want everybody to be able to wear my clothes without looking at gender or size.
I designed a comic print for the collection which illustrates the life of a girl suffering of depression, social anxiety and panic disorder. The comic is a very personal story for myself but I want everybody to make their own interpretations of the story. By hiding the story in the folds of clothing I try to hide my own fears and emotions away.
All the materials used in this collection are vegan.
The patterns were made using Zero Waste principle so that no excess fabric is cut and thrown away. By applying traditional japanese pattern making to the modern day I was able to make clothes that are ecological and timeless.
All the clothes were designed and sewn by me. I also dyed, painted and printed on the fabrics myself.
